Our Specialty

Our speciality is in identifying and partnering with small family-owned estates around the Mediterranean, primarily Italian whom are either cultivating unique varietals or use artisanal production techniques. The Milvinos strategic aim is two-fold: reliably source key vintages of value while introducing New Old World wines to the mainstream Connecticut wine market.

Areas of Focus

Important markets within the county include fast growing Danbury, upscale Greenwich and New Canaan, capital city Stamford (Milvinos office and warehouse location) and the so-called “Gold Coast” towns of Darien, Fairfield and Westport. Milvinos distribution network extends through Litchfield, Hartford and New Haven counties along with the eastern shore summer communities.

Nidya Garcia de Roche

Nidya Garcia
Nidya Garcia

In 2007 Nidya Garcia de Roche’s passion for wine led her to take the WSET in France’s Languedoc, a wine growing region in transition. Her observation and study of the region have given her a keen sense of the components that identify a promising wine region. Afterwards, she journeyed to Ribera Del Duero and Rueda where she immersed herself in the local wine culture

CAREER

Upon obtaining her WSET accreditation, Nidya embarked on her wine industry career. Her pathway began with retail experience, followed by New York sales representative for Fine States from Spain, before moving on to her seminal experience as Emilo Moro’s North American Export Manager. In this role she gained a tremendous insight of the US and Canadian wine market, all national regulatory laws, branding, marketing and distribution.

VISION

Nidya then moved to act on her vision of establishing a woman-owned importer and distributor in her home state of Connecticut (sixth largest U.S. state in wine consumption per person, 14.4 liters per year, ’13). Her company,  Milvinos LLC was established in 2010 and began importing the prestigious Tuscan winery Casali Di Bibbiano. As of January 2016 Milvinos became an active distributor in CT comprising a portfolio of twenty Italian artisan wines. Milvinos mission is to add unique wines from other European regions.

Nidya resides in southwestern CT with her family and enjoys summering in the nearby upcoming wine region of the North Fork of Long Island.
